Insomniac Games – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Wishlist

We have done an article very similar to this, but that was a year and a half ago and obviously, before the Miles Morales game dropped ahead of the PS5 launch in November.

Both games from Insomniac have been fantastic, even including the unnecessary but welcomed remaster of the original. It’s now time to look ahead, as due to the success of these games, it’s unlikely Insomniac will be slowing down any time soon.

Here are just 5 things I would love to see added in the next game.

1. Play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales

This one directly ties into the story itself, and should absolutely focus on both characters instead of just one or the other. Now that both have had individual games and character development, it would be a fantastic move from Insomniac’s part to allow us to play as either-or.

Despite largely the gameplay being similar when playing as them both, they do also have their strengths. Peter has more gadgets, and better skill moves, Miles has camouflage and venom. Now the powers are done with each, as are the suits, it shouldn’t be too difficult to allow play for both.

2. Suit customisation

It’s all well and good choosing a specific suit you like, and I do think that more should be added to the game for both characters, but I also believe creating your own customized suit would be an amazing way to engage fans that little bit more to the game, whilst adding a small level of replayability.

Peter has almost always designed his own suits, and having a sweet customization tool would be great. I’m more leaning towards the scene in Far From Home where he designs his suit using technology. Having a feature like that in-game would definitely be interesting, that’s for sure.

3. Symbiotes

This is something that has been teased in both games at the end, with Harry in the chamber as Norman overseeing the progress. We had the Sinister Six in the first game, which is a force in their own right, but how do you top that? Well, I suspect Insomniac already knows the answer to that.

Venom, Carnage, and other Symbiotes are a huge part of Spider-Man’s lore, so having at the very least, Venom would certainly heat things up in the villain department.

4. A survival mode

Oftentimes, I replay the base side missions just because I enjoy the combat so much, I like trying out different methods and combinations. Having a survival mode where you pick and choose the rules, locations and settings would be a relaxing way to take a backstep from the story itself.

This could be something included in the main game itself or the main menus, either way, it would be great to truly challenge your combat skills when it comes to fighting, trialing out different methods, etc. It would also help you when you are actually playing through the game.

5. Web wings

In comics, and more recently, the movies, Spider-Man has an added bonus to his suits and that’s the web wings so that he can glide. I would imagine most of us have been in a situation where we’ve swung way too high in the city, and the objective is over 1,000m away. Being able to just whip out the wings in order to glide would be so good.

Most of the suits Spider-Man wears are usually capable of having these included, or you could even just have it as an added bonus on the customization as I mentioned earlier…

Spider-Man Homecoming — Disney — Marvel Studios

So there we have it, that’s just 5 of the things I’d love to see. I know Insomniac Games have done an incredible job to date, and I truly believe the next experience they bless us with would be just as good, if not better.

Is there on your list that’s not included? How about you let me know down in the comments below and I can add them to the article and credit you for it as well.
