The latest rumor going around is that Adam Driver has been cast as the iconic Magneto. What exploded online is simply a rumor, and not an official casting announcement as of yet.
Industry scooper “MyTimeToShineHello claimed that Marvel Studios had made it’s first major casting for the upcoming X-Men reboot and that Adam Driver had been cast as the film’s villain… however, no official character was named alongside this rumor.
Another scooper known as “Apocalyptic Horseman” claimed that they could back up the report and specifically identified the role as Magneto. From here, numerous entertainment websites and social media repeated the claim.
As of now, Marvel has not confirmed this. Marvel Studios has not released any announcement; Kevin Feige has not commented, and Adam Driver has not acknowledged the reports either.
None of the major Hollywood trades such as Variety, Deadline, or The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed this either. This means this story could still be treated as an unverified rumor rather than established news.
Way before these rumors, Driver was regularly in the top 5 in people’s fan castings, as he has some similarities that suit the Magneto character. This also isn’t the first time that Adam Driver has been tied to Marvel. Back in 2023, Driver was heavily linked to being Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic during early casting discussions before the role ultimately went to Pedro Pascal.
So at the moment, He is rumored to be playing Magneto; multiple scoopers are making the same claim; however, Marvel Studios has not confirmed it, and major Hollywood trade publications have not verified it.
