What I Liked
1. Well, that surgeon was never gonna survive that, was he? Whilst he’s offering his sympathies to Fisk, maybe a little much, may I add, he takes a deathly bear hug as a result. I can’t say I’m surprised. We may see the most unhinged and unstable version of Fisk so far. It’s already evident.
2. Jessica Jones is back! With a child no less. We already knew she was going to be in the series. I’m glad she’s finally in here. A great opening, and she seems to be happier here instead of the miserable version of her character.
3. Karen has a point. She explains to Matt that ultimately, it’s going to come down to one of them being killed, and Matt should be the one to end it. I’m on her side with this. Matt has had several opportunities to end it, but he never has, and things always escalate. It’s Batman and the Joker all over again.
4. Buck begins to suspect BB of being a mole. His suspicions are correct, as we know. He tells Daniel to feed her something false to see if it escalates. I like the idea from Buck here. You can see how uncomfortable Daniel is, but this is the price he needs to pay.
5. We get an exceptional action sequence. Jess and Matt vs the AFTV in the port where the Northern Star weapons are being held. We even get a face-to-face moment between Powell and Jess, but her powers seemingly switch off. The entire port goes up in flames after the fight. What an amazing scene this was.
6. Daniel does follow through with Buck’s request to feed BB a lie. I’m with Daniel here in all honesty. He’s explicitly told her not to leak this or mention it to anyone. I’d also want to know if this got leaked behind my back. It’s a trust thing above all else. Thankfully, she goes to text her source with the information. She decides against doing so after seeing Daniel’s room. A good choice. He does find the SD card in her pocket, which creates a new dynamic.
7. Karen manages to project a video onto the City Hall building with protestors raging, and Fisk watching on. The video shows the prisoners explaining what happened, that Daredevil saved them. This causes the protestors to further erupt. It’s great to see the civilians turn against Fisk’s regime.
8. Powell kills Saunders, then blames the vigilantes for it, telling his men to fire on the protestors. He kills Saunders, realising he was a mole in the pact. Powell was always a step ahead here, and you can feel it as the episodes progressed.
9. Tommy, the young man, is shot in the chaos erupting outside of City Hall. Karen’s mask falls off as she attempts to check he’s okay. Powell walks over and points his gun at her. This series is truly shaping up. I can’t wait to see what happens next here.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report this week.
Favorite Moment
Matt and Wilson go face-to-face. Matt attempts to reason with Fisk, but his efforts are ultimately futile. Fisk lobs a chair at him, and a fight begins. Daredevil brilliantly dodges most of Fisk’s offensive until Fisk grabs his arm. He gets the upper hand on Matt, knocking him to the ground. Matt gets back up and turns the tide. This fight is absolutely incredible.
Standout Character
I’m torn between two characters this week. Daniel is on my list because I understand everything he’s doing, especially after last week’s episode, in how terrified he was. Then there’s also the Jessica Jones return. That’s a standout in itself. So, I think this week, I will leave it to interpretation as they both deserved the standout this week.
Verdict
I adored this episode, honestly. It had everything nailed down to the ground, more so considering how the previous episode ended. We had Jessica Jones return, Fisk becoming more unhinged, New York breaking down, Daniel and BB, Karen and Bullseye, and more. There was a lot to unpack in episode 6, and they’ve got 2 episodes left to wrap up each angle. I am excited, though. This episode was brilliant.
