Everything Shown at the PlayStation State of Play

PlayStation recently held a “State of Play” event to announce a bunch of games that are coming in the near future.

We are here to recap everything that was showcased.

Tekken 8

First up was Bandai Namco who showcased a new look at Tekken 8, another installment in their long-running fighting game series. While no release date was showcased, they did say “Stay Tuned”.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition

Sony revealed a new and enhanced version of the 2020 VR adventure game set in the Star Wars universe for the Oculus Quest. Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition will be coming to PSVR2 in 2023.

Demeo

Another PSVR2 port was announced during the short event, Demeo. Which aims to recreate the experience of a four-player tabletop RPG. Obviously, they will add more flair and excitement to the game. It will come to the PSVR2 next year.

Like a Dragon: Ishin!

A Yakuza spin-off Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin was first released in 2014 for PS3 and PS4. A remake will come in February 2023 and apparently is the first RGG Studio game to be built using the Unreal Engine 4.

Hogwarts Legacy

While not much was shown in this trailer, they did showcase the PlayStation exclusive quest. This quest “The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop” is exclusively on PS4 and PS5. The game launches on Feb 10, 2023.

Pacific Drive

A debut game from Ironwood Studios appears to mix first-person exploration of a dystopian-like world with some car action. This game will be coming out in 2023.

PlayStation Stars

As this was a PlayStation event, they did throw in a “sneak peak” at Sony’s “totally-not- NFT” rewards program. It will be launching in some parts of the world later this month and expanding to more parts of the world at a later date.

Synduality

Another game in the world of “mech combat” games. This game mixes third-person robot combat with guns and some crystal harvesting. Due to be released on PS5 next year.

Stellar Blade

Project EVE is now renamed “Stellar Blade” and Sony has said it will be a PS5 console exclusive when it releases sometime in 2023.

Rise of the Ronin

Another PS5 console exclusive sees Rise of the Ronin set in Japan and is described by Sony as a “sprawling action-RPG”. Team Ninja will be developing the game and the game itself will not be out until 2024.

God of War: Ragnarök

God of War: Ragnarok not only received a new story trailer during the State of Play event, but Sony also showed off a fancy new God of War inspired PS5 controller. The controller will be a limited edition. It will be available to buy on the same day as the game releases which is November 9 of this year.

While the State of Play event itself was a short and sweet event, Sony did showcase a range of games for everyone’s taste buds.
