What I Liked
1. The episode immediately begins with the Viltrumites landing on Earth and immediately causing chaos. Ruining a city and wiping out civilians. Not only did they destroy the city and kill people, but they left people alive for a massive wave from the ocean to finish them off.
2. I do like how Mark has returned to Earth and isn’t just fine; he’s having visions, he’s upset, he’s worried, he’s just not himself. He knows that the Viltrumites will be on Earth somewhere, but he just does not know where.
3. I do like how Omni-Man visits the place where he beat Mark to a bloody mess. He reminisces about that time and what it did to him. Cecile then arrives and speaks to Omni-Man, who apologizes to Cecile, who tells Nolan that it means something.
4. I do like how this episode showcased Thragg as this brutal character, even if it was just simply hallucinations.
What I Disliked
While Mark was away fighting in a literal war, Eve was back home having an abortion. Like, this is insane to me.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment would be when we see Mark go out for a flight, with no destination, no nothing, just him and the open air. We then see Thragg bump into him. Mark unleashes some heavy punches onto Thragg, who simply pushes Mark away. Thragg gives Mark a proposition… Let them live in peace, or choose annihilation for both populations, to which Mark accepted.
Standout Character
I’m going to give this to Thragg. Even though the bloody and brutal scenes were hallucinations with him, they still showcased just how brutal he was.
Verdict
Honestly, this was not the best finale episode. I thought at the start of the episode we would be getting the Viltrumites destroying and leveling cities, but we did not get any of that, which was very disappointing. The story was alright, which showcased Mark’s PTSD.
