Season 2 Episode 8 – “An old enemy threatens everything Mark holds dear.”

Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain significant spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode, we recommend that you click off the article and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. The episode begins with Nolan absolutely wrecking shop by destroying many prison robots until he is shot with a laser by some other guards, he fakes being knocked out but manages to get the drop on the soldiers in which he literally punches one up to the ceiling which absolutely splatters the guard.

2. Angstrom returns and threatens Mark but holding his mother hostage, he teases Mark about snapping her neck while also telling Mark that his identity is revealed in multiple dimensions. I have a feeling that the Invincible War will be coming soon.

3. Angstrom begins to feel pain, and this is when memories of the night he “changed” in the accident come flooding back. Angstrom sees all these different memories of Mark, Omni-Man, and the evil Invincible. This is caused by Angstrom becoming one with every Angstrom from different dimensions. He even sees Mark kill his own son in one dimension.

4. All of the different dimensions are so good to see. I absolutely love that they are diving into the multiverse. Angstrom sends Mark to a dimension where there are zombies. Angstrom is so set on his way to defeating Mark. Angstrom in his rage towards Mark’s mother ends up snapping her arm.

5. Without showing him fully, without them saying his name. When we see Mark go in different dimensions, he’s sat on a roof talking to someone. He mentions that he dresses like a bat and is a man and that his name is a bit lazy.

6. Angstrom manages to finally fight Mark. He literally tells Mark that he was softening him up while sending him to different dimensions. Angstrom was literally punching Mark through different dimensions. Mark gets angry when Angstrom continues to threaten his family. Mark finally snaps and doesn’t hold back. He beats Angstrom to a bloody mess and seemingly kills him.

7. I do like how affected Mark is after killing Angstrom. He’s going through all the emotions and comes to realize he is stuck in this dimension. This will be tough for Mark. He might not come back the same, he might have PTSD next season.

8. Mark gets saved from a future version of the Guardians of the Globe. They come from 20 years in the future to save Mark because they know he killed Angstrom. Even though it only happened for him, he was missing for 20 years. Mark goes to walk through the portal back to his own time but Atom Eve stops him and tells him that she loves him and that he should tell her meaning her younger self that he either loves or doesn’t love her.

What I Disliked

Nothing to report.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be Angstrom sending Mark to different dimensions. He first goes to a dimension where dinosaurs are talking, and next, he sends Mark to a dimension where we see a “Spider-Man” character, this was a nod to Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Standout Character

The standout was definitely Mark. He finally realizes he needs to get better at being a hero, he needs to train to become more powerful for what’s to come in the future.

Verdict

A solid finale episode that delivered many action-packed scenes, many emotional scenes, and many teases of potential future storylines to come in the Invincible series. The episode teased evil versions of Invincible which makes me assume that we’ll get the Invincible war. This episode also had easter eggs and nods to Batman and Spider-Man.
