What I Liked
1. The season opens up with quick shots of different heroes around the world saving the day, doing nothing but saving the day. The opening scenes show that the Earth is slowly healing itself by fixing the cities that were destroyed.
2. I do like how Atom Eve’s dad doesn’t like supes, but still cares for his daughter, to the point where he has a talk with Mark about making him think about the two times that she has nearly died is because of Mark.
3. Mark and Eve fight with the person who is taking all of the electricity while the rest of the heroes try to stop the alien invasion and stop the aliens from taking control of the population within the city. The Guardians of the Globe head to the city to try an experimental weapon on the aliens.
4. To stop the aliens from breaking out of the dome, Mark has to make the ultimate choice and kill the host of the swarm of aliens. Mark punches him in the head, instantly killing him. In the post-credit scene, we see an awake Conquest, who instantly escapes.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment came early in the episode when Dinosaurus started a fight with Mark. This fight caused Mark to take off the cast that was healing him and let loose a little bit. The two fight hard before Mark punches him hard, causing Dinosaurus to switch back to his human form.
Standout Character
I think, in all honesty, this goes to Mark. Mark was the standout; he delivered some great scenes, and he had to make a hard choice.
Verdict
Overall, a solid opening to the fourth season of Invincible. This first episode has set the tone that the season will adapt. The moral compass that Mark is on, whether or not to kill to protect the ones he loves, is interesting. I can’t wait to see where the season goes.
