1. Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Final Season announcement
Yes, you’re seeing and hearing this correctly! Finn Jones is returning as Danny Rand, also known as Iron Fist, alongside the rest of The Defenders for the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again.
Charlie Cox, Finn Jones, and Krysten Ritter reunited on stage at New York Comic Con 2026, giving fans a moment they’ve been waiting years to see. With familiar faces returning from Marvel’s original Netflix era, the upcoming season looks set to bring these beloved characters together for one final chapter, potentially delivering the conclusion that The Defenders never truly received. When it was announced as the final season, the crowd began booing loudly.
Personally, I am absolutely over the moon with this decision. These characters deserve another opportunity to shine, particularly Iron Fist, whose original series never quite reached its full potential. Bringing The Defenders back for one final run gives Marvel the perfect opportunity to do these characters justice and deliver something truly special.
2. Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man Season 2
Marvel Animation brought some exciting updates to NYCC 2026, with Your Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man officially set to return to Disney+ on January 13, 2027. Attendees were treated to exclusive footage featuring Peter Parker interrupting a fundraiser where Norman Osborn and Doctor Octopus are at odds. The footage showcased Spider-Man saving Harry Osborn from the side of a skyscraper, promising more spectacular action sequences and complicated relationships in the upcoming season.
The big reveal for this announcement was the appearance of Venom, who was teased at the end of the footage and featured on a new promotional poster. The introduction to the iconic symbiote could present Peter Parker with his most dangerous challenge yet, potentially exploring the darker consequences of his superhero responsibilities.
3. Zodiac
Marvel Television has officially announced Zodiac, a brand-new live-action series scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2028. The upcoming project is expected to explore the espionage side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, potentially introducing new threats and characters connected to the world of intelligence and covert operations.
In Marvel Comics, Zodiac is a criminal organisation whose members are inspired by the twelve astrological signs. The organisation has a long history of conflict with some of Marvel’s most recognisable heroes, including the Avengers, and has connections to characters such as Scorpio, also known as Jake Fury, the brother of Nick Fury.
Although Marvel has yet to confirm specific plot details, casting announcements, or whether the series will directly adapt the comic book organisation, Zodiac could offer a fresh perspective on the MCU. With its planned 2028 release, further information about the mysterious project is expected to emerge over the coming years.
4. X-Men ’97 season 3
Marvel Animation also delivered a major surprise at NYCC. Revealing the first footage from X-Men ’97 season 3 and confirmed that Deadpool will officially appear in the upcoming season. Deadpool was previously referenced through Morph transformation, but his proper introduction opens the door to some interesting possibilities for the animated show.
The footage showed Deadpool alongside She-Hulk during Rogue and Gambit’s wedding, bringing two familiar Marvel Characters into the celebrations. Season 3 is expected to arrive on Disney+ in 2027. The footage suggests that the X-Men will continue facing growing hostility towards mutants. Scenes reportedly depict anti-mutant riots, restrictions on mutant travel, and a Sentinel attacking a mutant before the Brotherhood intervenes. Professor Xavier and Storm also discuss an anti-mutant US president, suggesting the series will continue exploring political tensions and discrimination.
5. Marvel Zombies Returns
Marvel Zombies is officially returning for three additional seasons, with a brand-new instalment arriving every Halloween from 2027 through 2029. Each season will feature its own title, continuing the terrifying animated adventures of Marvel’s undead universe.
