Not long after the cancellation of Spider-Noir, Prime Video is closing in on an order for a new series set in Sony Pictures’ Universe of Marvel Characters.
The new series will focus on the Clone Saga storyline from Marvel Comics, more specifically the second Clone Saga story arc that focuses on two Spider-Man clones, Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker. The two will grapple with their newly discovered identities as clones while also facing other clones.
The new series, written by creator Kelvin Yu, will succeed Spider-Noir, which was cancelled by Prime Video this month after one season. Spider-Noir featured Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, whose alter ego was the title character. In the comics, Spider-Noir was Peter Parker, with the identity switched for the TV series because of rights.
While details about the new series are scarce, sources do caution that, while the comics serve as source material and inspiration, there might be significant changes in the screen adaptation.
While there is some conflicting information, as previously mentioned about the two characters discovering their identities as clones while facing other clones, others claim that the series may alter Ben and Kaine’s origins as clones, and they could take on new identities.
Reps for Amazon MGM Studios and Sony TV declined to comment.
