28th April, 2023, was the last time we saw a Jedi game released. Survivor, the sequel to Fallen Order, was one of, if not the best, Star Wars games made to date.
I’ve been hoping for a little while that we’d get some news or teasers on the third installment of the franchise. This is purely personal hope rather than anything confirmed. I’m looking forward to seeing Cal Kestis’s story complete, or even in a way that allows him to become a live-action project at Disney+.
Survivor ended in the most devastating way possible. Cere is dead. Cal’s trust has imploded. His only proper hope is in Merin and Kata. After all he’s seen and done, he was close to the Dark Side on multiple occasions throughout the game. It’s actually terrifying when you look closely into Cal and how innocent he’s been throughout all of this. That’s why his story doesn’t feel complete yet.
This is why I’m ready for the next installment of the franchise. I want to see where Cal goes next, what his intentions are, and really, who he actually goes for.
Does he go for Vader? Does he go for the Inquisitors? Does the enemy hunt him? There are so many questions left unanswered after the events of Survivor. There are so many different avenues they could go down in the next game due to how open they left it.
There was talk of a 2026 release, but I can’t see it. The first trailer for Survivor came out on May 27th, 2022, 11 months before the game’s release. We’re in February now, so even if we got a trailer tomorrow, we could be looking at early 2027.
2026 is already a stacked year as is with games such as GTA 6, Wolverine, 1943, and more. It’s shaping up to be huge without it as is, so maybe a 2027 release will be good as much as I’d love to play it in 2026, my wallet won’t be too happy with it.
I’m still a bit devastated we never got any decent add-ons or DLC for Survivor. It truly deserved more added to the base game in terms of cosmetics. I’ve played through the game so many times, I’d love to again, but I know what to expect now, so it puts me off playing through again, despite how much I want to play through a Star Wars game at the moment.
