Season 1 Episode 3 – “As Maul’s plans come together, Devon considers her options.”

What I Liked
1. Maul speaks with Devon. He asks her name, as she knows his. He tells her that caring for her well-being is something that Devon has not been told about Maul from the Jedi Order. He explains that his mother and his brother were both murdered by the man who destroyed Devon’s order.
2. The police droid and a police agent go to the Pikes hideout, and see them execute someone, so the police manage to detain them while Maul’s Shadow Collective arrives and blows them up. The police droid tries to arrest them but ultimately fails.
3. I like how Maul’s Shadow Collective is just playing all the syndicates. This shows how smart Maul actually is. He’s a tactician. I’m curious to see how this plays out throughout the season.
4. I like how Maul finally duels Devon. He’s doing it one-handed and is telling her that she is weak and that she is one of the few Jedi who survived Order 66. She has no purpose and no hope. Maul is slowly bringing her dark side out. Before he allows her to go, he takes back the red saber and calls her by her name.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report this episode again.
Favorite Moment
I love that Maul is just speaking to Devon. While the only light source she has is Maul’s saber, he’s speaking on the Empire, the Jedi, and more. This scene was really important because he’s telling Devon that she could be the one to kill Maul.
Standout Character
I’m going to give this to Maul once again. He’s just brilliant. He’s too smart and such a great duelist.
Verdict
Overall, a solid episode that showed a brilliant duel between Devon and Maul. It showcased the relationship between Lawson and his son, how the job comes before the son. The action and story were decent.
