Star Wars: The Bad Batch “Decommissioned” Review

Season 1 Episode 6 “On a mission to acquire valuable asset, The Batch encounters smugglers after the same target.”

What I Liked?

1. While Echo is teaching Omega to shoot the bow that she found in the last episode, Cid gives the Batch a new mission, go to Corellia to find a Tac-Droid, to receive the information from inside its memory, the Batch arrive on Corellia and easily find the last Tac-Droid in the factory but end up chasing two people who steal the Tac-Droid, these two characters end up being Rafa and Trace from season 7 of The Clone Wars and Ahsoka’s friends.

2. Trace, Echo, and Tech all fix the Tac-Droid to lead the droids to help Rafa, Trace, and The Batch gets out of the factory alive, we see droids awaken and start battling the police droids in the factory, this was a decent scene altogether, I loved seeing the droids again.

3. At the end of the episode, Hunter gives Rafa the data from the Tac-Droid, Rafa and Trace fly off and contact a mysterious character, Rafa tells this character who we don’t see that she has the data, but she had the help of a “rogue Clone squad” and she knows where they are. I have a theory that this mysterious character could be either Darth Maul or Ahsoka Tano.

What I Disliked?

1. I get that this is a storyline that is playing out very slowly and will end up in a major story further into the season, but Wrecker banging his head once again this episode was annoying, I’m not going to lie. I want to see where this story goes.

2. Being that this episode was on Corellia, this was the perfect opportunity to introduce or bring back characters like Han and Qi’ra from Solo. They would have been a bit younger than they were in Solo, but this would have made more sense than Rafa and Trace.

3. These episodes are far too short, while they pack in a lot, give us decent action, I think these episodes need to be around 30-40 minutes long.

Favorite Moment

Wrecker gave me my favorite moment this episode, seeing him wake up from being knocked out and dropping down and absolutely destroying clankers and droids around him and saving the rest of the team was amazing.

Standout Character

Omega, she learned to overcome distractions so she could fire her bow properly.

The Verdict

The episode was solid, but yet missed some major opportunities in this episode, especially with it being on Corellia and around about the time a young Han Solo was on that planet.
