The Flash “The Last Temptation of Barry Allen, Pt. 1” Review

Season 6 Episode 7 “As Barry stands on the threshold of his impending death in Crisis, his convictions are tested when the monstrous Dr. Ramsey Rosso infects The Flash with a mysterious, hallucinogenic contagion. Meanwhile, Iris uncovers a vast conspiracy.”

What I Liked?

1. The episode starts off where last weeks ended with Ramsey or Bloodwork dragging Ralph off of the roof of Iris’s building. Ignoring the questionable CGI, this scene was a great Ralph/Ramsey fight scene with Ramsey getting the better off Ralph and causing Ralph’s ability to heal himself to not work which in turns causes Barry to give him his blood.

2. With Barry having to give blood to Ralph, Ramsey’s blood gets into Barry system and is slowly taking control of Barry. It first shows him Ramsey in Barry’s apartment and showing him the crisis happening then we get to see the speedforce make a return and try to help Barry by telling him he can fight the infection and that Ramsey wants to turn Barry evil and bend him to Ramsey’s will.

3. Iris has been pre-writing the crisis article but can’t get passed writing the title because it’s too hard for her to do so. Allegra finds out about the article and gives Iris a speech about if she doesn’t write it she’s never forgive herself, Allegra also tells Iris that Nash told her Barry was The Flash.

4. The infection inside of Barry is causing him to see visions of different things like the graves of people who died in past seasons, it shows Barry baby Nora and Ramsey even shows Barry a accident where a driver has died and that if Barry chooses to join Ramsey he could heal her and give her life again. The Speedforce tries its hardest to stop Barry from joining Ramsey but it seems to be to hard of a decision for Barry.

5. Iris starts to finally write the crisis article but gets interrupted by a phone call by Cisco letting her know about Barry so Iris goes to STAR Labs to see Barry but realizes that this isn’t her Barry but it’s actually Ramsey taken over Barry. This was a good scene to witness because not even Barry’s bestfriend Cisco noticed something wrong with Barry, the only one who did was Iris.

6. Nash Wells finally finds a sealed doorway to the Monitor. The door potentially teased the 7 Symbols of the destined Paragons. We are so close to the crisis event that the hype is real.

What I Disliked?

1. Even though Barry was very sure he wouldn’t let Ramsey win it seems like Ramsey was just too powerful for Barry and the Speedforce because he managed to take over Barry.

Favourite Moment

The Speedforce tells Barry that he is destined to be a part of the Speedforce and that Ramsey is right but that’s not what Barry’s path is so an angry Barry vibrates his hand through the Speedforce which is in the form of his mother. Ramsey finally takes over Barry and we get to see the Negative Flash. This was so amazing to see live action!

Standout Character

Ramsey or Bloodwork is this weeks standout character simply because of how menacing and he managed to infect Barry with a single drop of his blood. He’s a top 3 villain on the Flash in my opinion.

The Verdict

The best episode of the season thus far. We finally got to look at the Negative Flash and full blown Bloodwork. This episode while it focused on Barry, Ramsey and the Speedforce it gave us a good amount of Reporter Iris which was incredible to see. Excited to see what happens in part 2.

Rating: 10/10
