The Mandalorian Chapter 11 “The Heiress” Review

Season Episode 3 “The Mandalorian braves high seas and meets unexpected allies.”

What I Liked?

1. The opening of the episode shows us Din’s pilot skills as he has to perform a manual landing from in orbit. It doesn’t go well as the ship starts to burn up while entering the atmosphere, however, he manages to land but crashes into the ocean in which a Mon Calamari fishes him out of the ocean.

2. Din heads into a bar to get some food for Baby Yoda, the food attacks Baby Yoda but he still eats it. Din asks the Mon Calamari bartender to tell him about some people who can show Din to more Mandalorians so the bartender speaks to some Quarren’s which take Din and Baby Yoda on a boat.

3. This was a quick point but it did tie in with Darth Maul, Bo-Katan explains to her group that Din is “one of them” a child of the Watch. She means he’s grown up with the purist Mandalorian’s who want to take them back to the old age, the Death Watch was run by Darth Maul after he killed Pre Vizla.

4. Din once again gets saved by the Nite Owls so they sit down and Din explains that he needs to return Baby Yoda to the Jedi, Bo-Katan offers Din a deal, help her steal weapons back from the Empire and she tells him where to find a Jedi.

5. Din and the Nite Owls fly onto the ship, absolutely wrecking any Stormtrooper in their way. Bo-Katan alters the plan and decides to take the entire ship, Din hates this change but goes along with it anyways. The Captain of the ship tries to crash the ship so the Mandalorians fight their way to the bridge where we see Din take multiple shots from the Stormtroopers to get to the bridge. We come to learn that Bo-Katan is going after Moff Gideon to reclaim the Darksaber.

6. After taking over the ship, Bo-Katan tells Din to head to a planet named Corvis where he’ll find a Jedi by the name of Ahsoka Tano. This name drop is huge, Yes, Ahsoka is a huge character in animation, but finally hearing this name in live-action just makes it even more exciting.

What I disliked?

I did dislike the shortness of the episode but this can be ignored with what the episode gave us.

Favorite Moment

We got to see Sasha Banks character, Koska Reeves appear and disappear, after the Quarrens attack and try to kill Din and Baby Yoda, 3 mysterious Mandalorians land on the boat, kill the Quarrens and save Din and Koska dives into the water and saves Baby Yoda. They are revealed to be the Nite Owls lead by none other than Bo-Katan played by Katee Sackoff who voiced Bo-Katan in the animated shows.

Standout Character

Bo-Katan, seeing her in live-action for the first time was pure enjoyment and excitement, especially for how big of a fan I am of her character from the animation.

The Verdict

This episode was very Mandalorian vs Empire, pure Mandalorian story, hints, and mentions of the Siege of Mandalore, Bo-Katan finally appearing in live-action was superb, Katee Sackoff is the perfect actor for it. The action and dialogue were amazing. Ahsoka Tano finally mentioned in live-action just hits different too. Sasha Banks is great as Koska Reeves. Dare I even say this was the best episode in the entire series?
