I think it is safe to say that a lot of Star Wars fans want to see some “What if…?” stories made within the Star Wars universe, especially with the success of the Marvel What If…? projects. There is an endless possibility of stories to be told, but what are my top 3?
3. What if Anakin never turned to the Dark Side?
Seeing a what-if story where Anakin never turned to the Dark Side and instead helped Mace Windu arrest Palpatine alive, but with a twist. What if, without the Empire rising instantly, the galaxy were to fracture into a civil war anyway?
The Jedi become military rulers “For Peace”, Clones begin to question their purpose, Senators fear Jedi power more than Sith Influence, and Anakin slowly becomes a war hero worshipped like a god. Obi-Wan would eventually realize that the galaxy may create Darth Vader even without the Sith. The final shot could be Anakin sitting in the Jedi Council seat while citizens chant his name outside the Temple. No Vader suit. No red saber. Still terrifying.
2. What if Order 66 Failed
Across the galaxy, Order 66 was given to many Clones, but what if the inhibitor chips had a malfunction and suddenly we get to see half of the Clones obey Palpatine, half of the Clones protect the Jedi, Clone troopers would turn on each other mid-battle, and entire worlds become warzones overnight.
Captain Rex would become the leader of a rogue Clone force protecting surviving Jedi, meanwhile, Palpatine would accelerate his plan to openly declare himself Emperor before the Jedi are fully wiped out.
The galaxy would then enter a three-way war. The Republic Loyalists, Palpatine’s early Empire, and Independent Jedi resistance cells.

1. What if Darth Maul killed Obi-Wan on Naboo?
In this what-if scenario, Darth Maul knocks Obi-Wan into the reactor pit, Obi-Wan doesn’t make the jump, and is killed by Maul. Qui-Gon then taps into something deeper than rage, pure living force instinct. He defeats Maul brutally and survives his injuries.
Qui-Gon then trains Anakin, and we see Anakin grow up under the one Jedi who openly distrusted the council. We see Anakin get trained in compassion over dogma, emotional honesty, balance instead of repression, and connection to the living force. Which means Anakin never learns to bottle up fear and attachment.
The Jedi Council would begin to see Qui-Gon and Anakin as radicals, as we see Anakin become absurdly powerful, emotionally stable, deeply loved by the public, and suspicious of politics. Palpatine then realizes he can not turn Anakin and would target the Jedi Order itself by manipulating the Republic to believe the Jedi are becoming extremists under the influence of Qui-Gon. This would see the Clone Wars become less about Separatists and more about the public fear of Force users.
Honestly, there are endless stories we could see, and we could make 1000 articles on each story, and each story would be unique.
