VisionQuest “Malware” Review

Season 1 Episode 4 – “As Vision confronts a new enemy, Ultron and Tommy Shepherd face to face.”

Please note that our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain significant spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode, we recommend that you click off the article and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

Highlights

1. The Butcherbird Killer invades Vision’s mind. She speaks to him about what she is and what she’s doing. Vision realizes just how much of a danger this AI is actually.

2. I love the fact that even within Vision’s mind, he has to do a check to confirm how many fire hydrants are in the little boxes so they can confirm who they are. It’s the little quirks like this that absolutely make this show a standout.

3. The AIs have found out who the next victim is for the Butcherbird Killer. They have come to learn that when someone gets killed, they take something: first it was a blood sample, then fingerprints, and then an eye. The next victim will be at a gala.

4. While Edith was looking at her avatar’s past life, who she was, what she did, Ultron comes down and speaks to her. Ultron actually gives her a decent speech about being the next version of who she was. She can be who she wants to be, and the previous Edith was who she was.

5. Vision gives up control to Ultron. Who takes control to get Vision out of the situation? Ultron says that he has no strings on me, a fantastic callback to Age of Ultron.

What Didn’t Work

The start of the episode was really slow. I sort of lost interest at the beginning, maybe for the first 14 minutes or so.

Standout Character

I am giving this to Ultron. He played the waiting game, and it seemingly has paid off.

Favourite Moment

My favorite moment would be when Jocasta is about to kill her next victim, and she gets saved by Tommy. Jocasta absolutely beats Vision down to a pulp while Vision gets help from Vision to remind Jocasta who she actually was and who she used to be, Dr Josephine Carrington.

Amazing

Overall, the episode started slowly, but dived into the action towards the end. The twist of Vision letting Ultron take the reigns and how he instantly just become more brutal.
