VisionQuest “Reboot” Review

Season 1 Episode 3 – “Vision and Tomm Shepherd join forces in order to survive while a terrifying killer strikes again.”

Please note that our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain significant spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode, we recommend that you click off the article and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

Highlights

1. The opening of the episode sees Ultron watching over a news report of a “Butcherbird Killer” who has killed again. We then cut to someone in their penthouse who is arguably terrified, and then the lift starts to rise with a red light in it and out walks the Butcherbird Killer, who kills him instantly.

2. I absolutely love the humor within this show. Going into this show, I will admit I did not know what to expect, but these first three episodes have been an absolute blast with comedy, especially from Ultron’s character as well as the two original Tony Stark AIs

3. I do like how Vision and Tommy have bonded over boxing, being clumsy, and just speaking about death and not being afraid of it. Tommy opens up about a time when a kid pulled him under the water, which was a really traumatic experience for Tommy. He explains what happens with his powers.

4. The scene where Vision dies in the pool, and Tommy has to use his powers to bring him back to life, was so incredible as Vision spoke to Tommy about being real, knowing who he was. The power surge causes the two to be tracked by the Butcherbird Killer. The moment where Tommy tries to bring him back but fails, and him saying “please, I just found you,” was incredible.

What Didn’t Work

Nothing didn’t work for this third episode.

Standout Character

The standout character would be Tommy. I feel like he’s starting to truly learn and come into his own while being with Vision.

Favourite Moment

My favorite moment would be the Paladin backstory. While being mind-tortured by the Butcherbird Killer, we come to realize that the Paladin is not an actual Paladin member; his father was killed by the real Paladin but then was taken in and trained by the Paladin.

Great

Overall, a solid third episode. The story focused mainly on Vision and Tommy bonding over their trauma's while the action shifted to Paladin and the Butcherbird Killer.
