Nearly a week out from the release of Wonder Man, I feel I can give an honest review of the series, from what I liked to what I disliked, and where I think the show goes from here on out. First off, the castings. This cast was decent. I do not think anyone was cast incorrectly.
I want to talk about Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, as a fan of his in nearly everything I have seen him in, he absolutely smashed this role. This role wasn’t the usual “actor comes in, gets a suit, defeats a bad guy”; we got to see him portray an actor who becomes a hero and focuses on the acting side. It was a unique way of introducing a character like Wonder Man.
Another character I want to praise is Trevor Slattery portrayed by Ben Kingsley. This character went from being a weird boring, and poorly wrote character in Iron Man 3 to having a turn around like nothing else. From appearing in Shang-Chi to this series, the development of the character is truly great.
Now moving on to the actual episodes. While the episodes were ok, this was a series that focused on Simon Williams becoming a better actor and gaining the role of Wonder Man, and less on the action of a superhero. We saw teases of it throughout the season, but ultimately it suffered from what Marvel is seemingly good at… waiting until the end to see it come to action.

Now, onto the negatives, and oh boy, were there a few negatives about this show. Firstly, the episodes. They were so short that I felt like nothing could happen in them. Especially the early episodes when they were jumping to different locations, it felt like a mess. The episodes themselves were around 30-38 minutes long.
I felt like the lack of action and powers in the early episodes was also a let-down and hurt the series quite a lot. We never truly got to see the powers in action other than just tantrums and anger; that’s all. I think if we had seen more of Wonder Man and less of “Simon,” the overall episodes would have been better.
The lack of the suit as well was a major negative for me. We only really got to see it in the final episode, and literally, it was him just standing there looking at the screen. This sucked because the suit was actually really well designed.
While the show was ultimately a negative, the character of Wonder Man was not. I hope we get to see this character return in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Overall, the season was very lackluster and severely lacked action... for a show centered around "Wonder Man", it wasn't very wonderful with action.
