There Is Still No Date For Superman’s UK Digital Release

The issue between the UK and DC’s content still continues to be a problem, even in the big 2025. Thankfully, we’ve been able to watch shows such as Peacemaker and Penguin in the UK since they aired on Sky on the same day.

However, Superman has been released in the US on digital platforms, allowing people to purchase the film, but it’s still nowhere to be seen in the UK.

When this was announced, it wasn’t specified per country. It was specified that August 15th would be the date the movie hits digital platforms, which has been a huge letdown from DC. On Prime Video and Apple TV, both platforms indicate that the film is still available for pre-order, with no release date yet announced.

We know piracy is a huge issue around the world, and this is exactly what these dilemmas lead to. I’ve said it for years when it comes down to DC. When The CW was airing the Arrowverse and they were taking months for the episodes to finally air in the UK, it’s not great.

I always try to support things where I can by using my wallet. I went to the cinema to see Superman. The film was a masterpiece, and I was so excited to watch it yesterday, and I was ready to pay for the film supporting it twice over. Unfortunately, my wife wasn’t able to see it in theatres, so she was naturally excited to watch it too. Yesterday hit, I checked the stores at different times, no availability, no dates, no news, nothing.

I think DC is onto a winner with James Gunn at the helm, but the situation surrounding releases around the globe needs to be better streamlined. Disney and Marvel don’t have this issue, but it seems like DC is hit or miss. I’m excited for the future of the franchise, and I’m hoping this is a one-off. If it isn’t going to drop at the same time around the world, then this seriously needs to be communicated better.

Either way, I’ll wait. I’ll buy the film when it drops in the UK because I loved it that much. I guess that’s what the most frustrating part of it is. When I left the cinema and called my wife, I hyped this movie up. I told her how good it was, and she’s a fan of superhero movies, so the letdown was more on her side yesterday.
