The table below showcases many of the upcoming Star Wars video game releases currently in development. As a Star Wars fan, it’s hard not to be excited about what lies ahead. In fact, I would argue the future of Star Wars gaming looks even more exciting than the live-action side of the franchise right now.
We don’t even have long to wait until the next official release in Zero Company, as this is released in just over 2 months at the time of writing.
Here’s a look at what’s coming next.
Star Wars: Zero Company
Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Star Wars Eclipse
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic
The only trailer we don’t currently have from the above list is Jedi 3, which is rumoured to be deep within its development phase at the time of writing.
There really is something for everyone here. Zero Company brings turn-based strategy to the Star Wars universe, while Galactic Racer offers a return to high-speed racing action.
If you’re invested in Cal Kestis’ journey, Jedi 3 should finally continue one of the franchise’s most popular stories.
Meanwhile, Eclipse appears to be targeting fans of narrative-driven experiences such as Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human.
RPG fans are also eating well, with both the Knights of the Old Republic Remake and Fate of the Old Republic currently in development.
There hasn’t been a greater time to be both a Star Wars fan and a video game fan. I’m still glad that EA no longer holds the exclusive Star Wars licence because it means developers can explore a wide variety of genres and experiences across the franchise.
There is also the possibility of Outlaws 2, although I would be surprised if it ever comes to fruition. The original game received a mixed reception from players, but I wouldn’t be against Ubisoft getting a second chance. With the right improvements, a sequel could be a much stronger experience.
Which game excites you the most?
If I had to choose one game from the list, it would be Jedi 3. Not because I necessarily think it will be the best game overall, but because I want to see Cal Kestis’ story continue. Respawn has done a fantastic job with the character so far, and I’m excited to see where his journey goes next.
