Battlefront 2 wasn’t a bad game in the end. In fact, once everything got ironed out, it turned out to be the best Battlefront game we’ve had to date. The problem the game had was its questionable launch, which still had an impact on it from then on.
It’s been 8 years since we’ve had a Battlefront game. I know, right? 8 years. Battlefront 2 came out in 2017, and since then, the likelihood of us getting a third is unlikely at this stage, or is it?
Battlefield 6 has revamped the Battlefield series in a major way. So much so, it’s on track to beat Call of Duty for the first time in God knows how long.
Personally, I’ve always been a Call of Duty fanboy for as long as I can remember. Battlefield wasn’t a game that ever interested me. I played them, of course, but I just preferred Call of Duty. Until now.
I have had so much fun on Battlefield 6 since it launched. I’ve played Conquest, Breakthrough, and the CQB modes. It’s a game that has so much variety that I’m never playing the same modes over and over again. I like how much DICE has put into the game, even post-launch.

Battlefront 3 could definitely benefit from this patch of incredible content. There is so much that could still be done with a sequel. Star Wars might as well be an endless franchise at this point. There are more heroes, more planets, more ships, and everything to explore.
It feels like with Battlefield 6, the developers listened. Call of Duty has become stale. It’s filled with sweaty movement players who abuse the physics of the game. I’ll hold my hands up, I’m salty. I can’t keep up anymore. With Black Ops 7 on the horizon with wall jumping mechanics, it’s a fat no from me. Omnimovement really ended Call of Duty for me, and DICE came with the perfect replacement.
I prefer shooters that require tactical thinking, gun skill, and objective play. The WAR mode on Call of Duty: WW2 was still one of the best modes I’ve ever played in an FPS game. The fact that Battlefield 6 has a mode called Breakthrough, which is very similar, is brilliant.
Battlefield 6 requires you to work with your team. It requires you, at times, to be unselfish, and that is what makes a great war game. It’s not about who can spin around, do a 360 back flip off a wall, and no scope you with a javelin; it’s all about the win in the end. I’ve always preferred objective-based games, especially when it comes to FPS games.
Star Wars also managed this pretty well in its conquest modes. It required you to work within your squads because that’s what gets the W in the end. Of course, DICE has had a successful beta and launch, but we all know the real work starts from here.
Can DICE keep the game fresh? I believe so. We’re only 2 weeks in, and we have a pretty decent season pass. We have got a battle royale mode (within the actual game and not separate). We have new weapons and maps. It’s been a great launch, and I feel satisfied. I feel like it’s a game I can see through for at least a year.
I know DICE can only really work on one game at a time. Given how successful the launch has been for Battlefield 6, they could opt to begin work on the 7th installment, or they could opt to go back in for Star Wars. It’s unlikely we’ll get another Battlefront, but I can hope. For me personally, I’m a Star Wars fan through and through, so I love anything that is built within that franchise.
