Hartley Sawyer FIRED From The Flash

This past month all across the world has been people protesting against police brutality against black people, many celebrities have joined the protests such as Candice Patton.

While many protests have been civil, Hartley Sawyer made the news recently with many old tweets of racism, rape, and other things from around 2012.

Many “fans” of The Flash have been outspoken about the actor, while the actor did come out and apologize for the tweets, many people still wanted to “cancel” him.

Hartley posted an apology to his Instagram saying “My words, irrelevant of being meant with an intent of humor, was hurtful, and unacceptable. I am ashamed I was capable of these really horrible attempts to get attention at that time. I regret them deeply. This was not acceptable behavior. These were words I threw out at the time with no thought or recognition of the harm my words could do, and now have done today.”

Showrunner Eric Wallace said “Hartley Sawyer will not be returning for season seven of The Flash,” and “In regards to Mr. Sawyer’s posts on social media, we do not tolerate derogatory remarks that target any race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation. Such remarks are antithetical to our values and policies, which strive and evolve to promote a safe, inclusive, and productive environment for our workforce.”

While I don’t agree with the tweets Hartley made, I do think he was sincere with his apology and that his firing has come at a bad time for the show as one of the story arcs for the show and future episode is around his character and his character’s future.
