Marvel Zombies released on Disney+ on September 24th, and they released the entire “season,” and I say season in quotations simply because of the ending of the series, as well as a few comments from someone behind the scenes.
With the show being a continuation from the What If…? series, did it live up to that episode, or did it outperform that episode? Well, long story short, it was amazing. It was well written, and the action was brutal and bloody from the very first moment.
Episode 1
The first episode started easily, and we got to see the young trio of Ms Marvel, Ironheart, and Kate Bishop in New York City, which is heavily run down. In this first episode, we get to see the struggle that the remaining heroes are going through.
The story in this first episode was a roller coaster of emotions that ranged from happy, sad, heartbroken, hope, and content. This first episode truly laid down the groundwork for what bloody and brutal action scenes were to come in the next three episodes.
Episode 2
The second episode began 5 years beforehand when the zombie outbreak first started. We got to witness the early stages of Shang-Chi and what his story was, and how it connected with Ms Marvel. The second episode continued the first episode’s story and continued to drain the heroes’ hope with every moment they survived, and someone else died.
The second episode delved more into the villain of the overall story, Wanda. It showcased just how powerful she was even as a zombie. The action within the second episode somehow managed to get even more bloody than the first episode.

Episode 3
The third episode within the series took us back to the zombie Thanos tease with the Infinity Gauntlet from the What If…? series. This opening scene and narration were a perfect way to keep the legacy of T’Challa alive. Seeing T’Challa be the one to save the universe by stopping and sacrificing himself to stop Thanos was perfect.
This episode delivered so much action and one of the best matchups in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—Zombie Wanda vs Thor. Not only was this Thor, this was a broken Thor, as he failed to stop Thanos, so he was broken and was waiting for that final battle.
Episode 4
The fourth episode delivered an epic conclusion… or did it. The final episode saw an all-out war to stop Wanda from touching the infused Infinity Stone Hulk. That’s right, the episode gave us a Hulk that was no longer the Hulk or Bruce; it was simply just the Infinity Stones within Hulk’s body.
We got an epic fight between a zombie Thor and this new version of the Hulk. The story was amazing and overall a decent story that remains unfinished. The episode left on a fantastic cliffhanger as the Scarlet Witch turned reality once again, and we got to see Ms Marvel wake up with everyone alive, but while she was happy, she began to get images of the real reality where the zombies are still there and a version of Ironheart warning her while fighting the zombies.
The series deserves a few more seasons of this. This was a series made for adults, and it was a brutal and bloody show that fit perfectly. I truly hope we get more of this show.
The Verdict
A fantastic potential first season that is such a powerful story that ranges from hope to heartbreak. The Action is fantastic, and the series is brutal and bloody.
