The Transformers Franchise Ranked

The Transformer movie franchise is hands down one of the best franchises that have been released. Many of the films are great and deserve solid praise.

But when I come to think of the Shia LaBeouf trilogy, it could have been so much better and it did… when Mark Wahlberg became the lead in the movie and we got introduced to new cast members and new Autobots and Decepticons.

6. Revenge of the Fallen

Revenge of the Fallen had decent action but for me, lacking in the story. The story with Megatron was average and the “death” of Optimus Prime was something I could see coming from a mile away.

Don’t even get me started of Bumblebee becoming just another car at college for Shia’s character. The movie also lacked character development for Megan Fox’s character and also introduced a new version of a series character in the first Transformers which they made “dumb”. Overall my least liked the film in the franchise.

5. Transformers

Transformers were the introduction to many of the Autobots and Decepticons as well as a decent range of cast like Shia who I became a fan of because of this movie.

I have nothing but praise for this movie, however, the rest was just above it in terms of action, story, and quality. This movie also introduced me to Bumblebee, Jazz, and my favorite Autobot, Ironhide.

4. The Last Knight

The movie gave me a look at way back to King Arthur losing a battle against the Saxons. We get to see a new group of Transformers hiding on Earth and they help Merlin win the war.

The movie also gave us a badass fight between Optimus and Bumblebee and even showed us the true connection between the two when Optimus is close to finishing Bumblebee off, Bee starts to speak in his own voice and it brings Optimus back to the good side. This movie alone deserves a new sequel movie in the future. This is too great of a cast to replace.

3. Bumblebee

Bumblebee was a movie that surprised me in a great way. I initially wrote this movie off because I thought we didn’t actually need it. Oh, boy was I wrong.

Bumblee gave us a new look at the war on Cybertron. We got to see the Autobots leave their planet and head to Earth. Bee arrives on Earth and we finally got to see how he lost his voice. The movie also introduced us to Hailee Steinfeld’s character which was a great introduction and I would love to see her return in another movie in the future. Or at least a mention.

2. Dark of the Moon

Now, this first and second decision was not easy at all because they are both my favorite films in the franchise. However, I am going to have to put Dark of the Moon at number two.

Don’t get me wrong, the movie was beyond great. It gave us an epic war between robots and humans. It also gave us the best portrayal of Shia LaBeouf. The entire war scene was amazing and some of the best scenes in the entire franchise.

1. Age of Extinction

Once again the movie opened up by showing us what originally killed the dinosaurs millions of years ago. We got introduced to the “Creators” who planted seeds to cover the Earth in “transformium”.

The movie then jumped 5 years after the battle of Chicago with many of the Autobots and Decepticons having been killed by a rogue CIA Black Ops division. Who is also aided by Lockdown, a Cybertronian bounty hunter who works for the Creators.

The movie gave us the best looks at the Autobots and showed us more personality with them after they saw one of their fallen brothers being stripped apart.

The movie also introduced us to Mark Whalberg’s character, Cade. While I loved Shia in the original trilogy, I do believe Mark joining the franchise saved it.

This list is just based purely on my thoughts and anyone’s list could be different.

I hope we get more solo movies for the Cybertronians in the future to expand this universe going forward. I don’t see why not after the success of Bumblebee.
