Spider-Man: Brand New Day is less than a year away from release (unless delayed). July 31st, 2026, is the date we’re looking at right now, and it’s the next Marvel film to be released in cinemas.
Here are 5 things I’m personally hoping to see in the film. I know this won’t resonate with everyone, as this is just my own opinion.
1. Hulk remembers Peter Parker

This scene is kind of expected to be in the film. I’m also hoping they rip it from the pages like it is above. I love the idea that Hulk is the only one who remembers who Peter is. Tom Holland’s emotional acting is fantastic, so I can only imagine the sense of relief we’d see in the movie. We know Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the movie, so hopefully, they do this part justice.
2. Peter and MJ to rekindle/remember
Either or for me here. I’d like for them to remember, but then again, I’m a sucker for a happy ending. I’d also be happy for them to rekindle, but doing so from the beginning again. I like the dynamic between this MJ and our current Peter Parker; it works well. I know people out there want Gwen, which is fine, but I like Zendaya’s version of Peter’s love interest, so I’d like to see this continue throughout the rest of the movies.
3. A grounded, street-level story
So far, we’ve seen Spider-Man fight universally threatening villains for the most part. I think most fans are calling for them to pull back a bit. At the end of No Way Home, we see Peter create his new suit and jump across the rooftops, teasing this aspect anyway. We already know there are other street-level heroes that will be part of the film as well, such as The Punisher and potentially Daredevil. I believe this film is the first in a new trilogy as well, so there’s a lot they can build into.
4. Showing us the classic DIY Spider-Man/Peter Parker
We already caught a glimpse of this at the end of No Way Home, where Peter makes his suit, and we also see the needle and thread as he leaves the apartment. This needs to be properly showcased in Brand New Day. So far, Peter has relied on Tony Stark or his technology to fulfil his goals, getting to see a Peter that relies on himself, even if it’s just for one film, can only do solid work for Peter’s development.
5. A tie-in to Avengers: Doomsday
I know I discussed during point 3 that I wanted a grounded, street-level story that stands. However, I do believe there needs to be a tie-in somewhere that links us to Avengers: Doomsday, whatever that is, I’m not sure. Tom Holland’s chair was missing when the cast was announced for Doomsday, which Marvel has stated there is room for more; this could include Tom’s. Doomsday is set for release in December 2026, with Brand New Day set for July 2026 (so far), so there is scope for them to include Peter Parker, depending on where they go with the film.
Honourable mention: Miles Morales
If Tom Holland truly has signed on for another trilogy, then it makes perfect sense for Miles to finally be introduced. There are talks that Sony doesn’t want to give Miles to Marvel yet, not until they have finished with their animated movie series. How true this is, I don’t know, I’ll be honest. I’d like to think by now that Disney has shown they can do alright by Spider-Man, and by giving Miles to Disney, it means we could theoretically get another trilogy after this.
