Why I Prefer The Aesthetic Of The Boys Universe To Marvel Or DC

By no means am I saying I prefer The Boys universe over the likes of Marvel or DC. This is simply me just stating a few of the reasons why I feel more aesthetically pleased by the likes of The Boys and Gen V over Marvel and DC.

Don’t get me wrong, Marvel is fantastic, currently a top 1 universe to watch with DC now doing a reboot with a successful Superman, their universe could be insane. The Boys and Gen V just do something that neither of those universes truly do.

While there have been some deaths in both DC and Marvel, compared to The Boys and Gen V, that is nothing. The Boys and Gen V provide the feeling of realness to the story and the overall universe. I’m not saying Marvel or DC put no realness in there, as shown in Superman, real-life issues can be given to the heroes, too.

With The Boys and Gen V, while both series are written to be violent, the stories also incorporate real-life issues into their stories, from drugs, alcohol, sex, and more. Throughout both of these series, no one is safe because they are a hero or a villain. If a hero or villain dies, they die.

Whereas you see in both Marvel and DC, the heroes and villains get rocked with brutal hits, but only come away with mere scratches and scrapes. It’s only recently that Marvel decided to go bloody with a show, and that was Marvel Zombies, although animated, there was bloody, heroes and villains dying and staying dead.

You could say, but what about the blood, etc, in the Netflix shows or in the recent Daredevil show, yes, that’s bloody, but the amount of torture, etc, we saw in those and the next episode, they’re fine? The Boys, where we see people take a hit, break a bone, or anything, they continue to do that in the next episode.

DC only truly started that as well; it only truly started to get real and bloody when James Gunn came over and directed The Suicide Squad 2 and Peacemaker, but other than that, I don’t really remember anything of that nature.

It’s why I love what The Boys and Gen V have done with their stories and universe, because we’ve seen heroes get hit with a powerful hit and explode into a puddle of blood. When you die in that universe, that’s it. Imagine a Marvel movie or series where the heroes die in a bloody mess.
