What I Liked
1. The episode starts with Fisk being told that Daredevil had help, specifically by someone with good aim. Fisk, who was in the middle of a sparring fight, takes his frustration out on his sparring partner. He punches him so hard that he flies into a mirror, and we see blood on the shards. What an opening, by showing us still how powerful he is.
2. One thing I’ve always wondered is why Fisk doesn’t out Matt. He explains the reason why he doesn’t is that it’s easier to paint Daredevil as an enemy, whereas it’s publicly known that Matt saves Fisk’s life. A very clever and interesting point from Wilson, to be honest.
3. I love how much Bullseye doesn’t care. He just rocks up at the hospital where Cherry is recovering. He kills 2 of the AVTF agents by slinging knives into their heads in an elevator. A brutal way to go.
4. The AVTF continues to take things to a new level. A shopkeeper, almost tired of kids shoplifting, pulls out a shotgun on them until the AVTF steps in and literally arrests people, and is causing chaos. It really does go to show how corrupt power can become in the wrong hands.
5. It would appear as though these mocking videos of Fisk are, in fact, BB. It’s one of those moments where she seems like the obvious choice, but not at the same time, if that makes sense? It was her. That’s what makes it so much more intense, considering the pressure Daniel is already under.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report this week.
Favorite Moment
The AVTF finds Karen and Matt; they use these large speakers, smashing out awful sounds, maybe to impact his senses? It could be inadvertently, but it’s clever. Still doesn’t do a lot, as Matt suits up and takes multiple of the agents out. He absolutely loves it as well, and so do I. Literally zero hesitation as he destroys each one individually. Karen manages to protect herself as we briefly see the training she’s put in pay off. She actually manages to capture an agent to hold him hostage, leading to an incredible scene.
Standout Character
I’m going to give it to Fisk this week. He felt his usual terrifying self again. The way he handled the situation with Daniel alone was intense. You really felt like Daniel’s time had come to an end, it didn’t; it feels close. Fisk’s intensity smashed it out of the park in episode 2.
Verdict
What an incredible episode. When I saw that Disney had released 2 episodes, I fully expected this episode to be slow in comparison to the third, but it wasn’t. It had everything from the perfectly set tone in the story to the great action. I loved the fact that the tone throughout felt like something was going to crack; it felt intense, but nothing happened. It was a clever route from the showrunners getting us to feel on edge. The way the season is going is intriguing, and I cannot wait to watch the third episode.
