Batwoman “O’Mouse” Review

Season 1 Episode 20 “When one of Gotham’s former heroes returns to settle a score, both Batwoman and Cmdr. Kane find themselves on the defensive; Alice uncovers what could finally take down Batwoman; Cmdr. Kane refuses to retreat from his war on Batwoman.”

What I Liked

1. The start was off to a bit of a terrifying start. Wow. A man literally slowly walks towards the train wielding two machetes and decides to kill a civilian on the train. Both Jacob, and Kate turn up to try and stop him but they’re both overpowered. A good start to the finale!

2. The finale continues the brutality by Titan, the machete-wielding guy from the train. After Batwoman approaches Apollo, Titan’s brother to try and help. He shows up, overpowers Batwoman again, and throws a machete at his brothers back for testifying against him. In what looks like an attempt to paralyse him, he’s just absolutely scary to watch. It’s great now we understand the story behind it.

3. Mouse is finally picking up the courage to stand up to Alice. Essentially he doesn’t agree with Alice going after Kate and seems fearful of being hunted. This is an interesting turn for Mouse, one I’m kind of happy to see.

4. Wow, Mary put herself in front of a Crows team in an urge to draw Jacob out. He goes absolutely insane for bringing Mary into it. However, Mary just fires back and it’s just amazing to see it happen. She completely and utterly shut Jacob down.

5. Sweet Jesus. After Mouse stood up to Alice and wanted to leave it’s ended up being a wrong move for him. Alice poisons him, killing him. It’s actually an emotional scene, all things considered, because it’s blatantly obvious she didn’t want to do it. I was not expecting that when I loaded up the episode.

6. Batwoman vs Titan 3. It would be a dislike considering Batwoman was overpowered all 3 times, but it’s what comes after. Batwoman manages to talk to Titan briefly and calms him down, but then he’s shot multiple times by the Crows. After he’s down, they surround Batwoman. After an intense brief standoff, they just spray her with bullets. Thankfully the suit withholds, but this episode is just continuing to deliver. A fantastic scene!

What I Disliked

Nothing to report this week.

Favourite Moment

I called it a few weeks back that Tommy would eventually receive the face of Bruce Wayne, and I was absolutely right! The reason I love this moment so much is because we finally have our Bruce Wayne casting! And boy what a cast it is.

Standout Character

I was torn between Jacob and Mary this week, however, it just has to go to Jacob. He was relentless, and when he started firing at Batwoman, I was flown back. He’s really out for war, and he is simply not holding back anymore. I’m so excited to see him hopefully find out Batwoman is Kate next season.

Verdict

The stronger finale out of the CW shows I’ve watched so far. This had a dab of everything and truly delivered on every note. All of the characters were fantastic, and an eventual Bruce Wayne casting as well! There was nothing to hate about this early ending finale, and I am happy it ended the way it did.
