The Good & The Bad
The Good
1. For the past couple of seasons the broship between Ray and Nate has been really incredible to see, from how funny they are together to how well the do a mission together and this episode was nothing short of that. At one point in the episode the team is at Nate’s fathers funeral and the team get a mission so Nate tells them to go and Sara gives Nate a kiss on the cheek, this quickly prompts Ray to do the same.
2. Speaking of Ray, he literally is a comedic genius in the show. His witty banter makes scenes incredible in the show. He had a great episode by acting even more weirder than usual trying to hide Nora Darhk on the Waverider out of sight from the Legends because they think she killed Nate’s father in the last episode.
3. Finally this episode we see Constantine contact Nate’s father spirit because he won’t go over to the other side and his spirit is trying to contact Nate to let him know about the mystery big bad. Nate’s Father tells Constantine about him and he finally finds out it’s Nero using Constantine’s old boyfriends body. This deeply affects Constantine and makes him get drunk at the end of the episode.
The Bad
1. The seriousness of Season 1 and 2. The show has had his serious moments but everything just turns into a comedy act… like magical unicorns and fairies, big teddy bears. While it’s alright to see it’s just not what season 1 of Legends was.
2. The villain of this episode was the God of Love… yes you read that right… the God of Love was the villain this episode by effecting people with his magic and makes every jump on their urges of love and make everyone fall in love and have sex… We see this countless time’s this episode like Zari having a threesome with Nate and the God of Love… Ray and Nora…it was awkward to say the least.
3. The episode turned into a Bollywood musical at the end of the episode by Zari and the God of Love starting to sing then the Waverider playing the music to all other Legends which promptly made them start singing too.
Holy Shit Moment
The Holy Shit Moment this week for me was Nate finding his Fathers secret room and plans for why he was testing the creatures in the Bureau… it was all for Nate. When he found out magical creatures were real, he ran home and got one of Nate’s drawings he did as a child and was planning on opening a magical themepark with real life magic creatures. This completely made Nate change his opinion of is Father and we see him apologize and call him ”Dad”.
Verdict
While the episode did have good moments it did also have it’s bad moments like all other episodes this season. The episode did have his emotional moments with Nate which were great to see. I can’t wait to see what Constantine does now he know’s what he’s up against. Can we get a round of applause for Maisie Richardson-Sellers for playing her ”Charlie” character incredibly well? While i did love her as Vixen, she plays a 70’s punk character amazing.
