Milly Alcock Cast As Supergirl In James Gunn’s DCU

After rising to fame with her portrayal in the House of the Dragon, actress Milly Alcock has landed the role of Kara AKA Supergirl in the upcoming DCU which James Gunn is overseeing.

Milly Alcock played the young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s first season of the Game of Thrones spinoff series House of the Dragon.

Alcock beat out actresses Emilia Jones and Meg Donnelly, the latter who provided the voice of Supergirl in such DC animated movies Legion of Superheroes and Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One.

While the buzz has been surrounding Supergirl in the DCU, speculation began to form that Supergirl will appear in Superman: Legacy which is about to begin filming in Georgia, but that is not 100%. What we do know is that she’ll appear in a DC-based project starring in her solo feature titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”.

While no director is tied to the film yet, the project was announced a year ago at DC’s studio press day and the movie is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book series.

James Gunn stated “This is accurate. Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU. Yes, I first became aware of her in House of the Dragon but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ava Nogueira.
