After what’s been a hugely successful opening for James Gunn’s brand new DC Universe, we’re now already less than 2 years away from the sequel.
Superman brought in $611,614,671 at the box office according to Box Office Mojo. It can’t be denied that this is a very good amount and will likely only enhance as more movies come out.
James Gunn now has 2 movies on his roadmap, which now includes Supergirl’s Woman of Tomorrow, which is set for release on June 26th, 2026, followed by the Superman sequel in July 2027.
I’m excited by this and the future of DC. Superman was fantastic. It’s the best Superman movie to date. I can only imagine that with a growing universe, the franchise is about to get so much better, so more quickly.
David Corenswet posted the announcement on his Instagram that was also further confirmed by James Gunn.

It’s nice for once to be able actually to look forward to DC content and this is all down to James Gunn and the actors he’s cast for his projects. It’s exciting and it deserves to be. It’s nice having people who care in charge of the projects.
