Today Is The Day, Superman Is Released In Theatres

DC’s brand new DCU era begins today. After a disastrous run over the last several years, it’s time for James Gunn’s turn, and it begins with a brand new iteration of Superman.

The cast has looked fantastic from the first trailer. Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, with Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. The cast also includes Isabela Merced, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, and Anthony Carrigan.

Now, the reviews. I was extremely worried about this being review bombed, but seemingly so far it’s doing relatively well on Rotten Tomatoes. The film is currently sitting with an 83% tomato meter and 96% popcornmeter score at the time of writing (of course, this is subject to change). This looks positive at present. If anything, it’s made me more excited to go and see it.

A group of friends and I will be visiting the theatres on Sunday, July 13th, to see the film, and we’re all looking forward to going. I hope this is truly the beginning for DC to finally begin a wider universe that can start competing with Marvel.

DC has a cascade of characters and stories that are incredible, but this needs to be reflected in the final product when it comes to live-action. I trust James Gunn to move forward, and I hope this movie does well at the box office.

So far, the early projections are suggesting a strong start for Superman, but we will wait and see how it performs after the weekend. If you’d like to track how it’s doing, you can use Box Office Mojo.
