What I Liked
1. Fisk visits Karen in prison. Karen shows zero fear as she steps up to Fisk. He manically laughs at Karen whilst explaining what he wants. He then chokes through the bars of her cell. It’s an eerie scene as we’re still seeing Fisk unravel after the death of Vanessa.
2. Luke Cage. That’s the mention. Jessica visits Mr. Charles, and he explains he knows where Luke is overseas. A very interesting section here as we may continue to see the Defenders reunite.
3. The team up I’ve inadvertently wanted to see is beginning to possibly happen. Daredevil releases Pointdexter from his cuffs. Matt does go on to say how much he hates him for Foggy. He explains how he wants to kill him but wants to forgive him. It’s a deep scene. Bullseye ends it asking Daredevil what he wants him to do.
4. Karen’s trial begins. As the prosecution and defence argue their case, Kirsten calls her first witness. The camera then pans to the door where Matt Murdock walks on through. The whole court is in shock, I think I am as well. What a moment this is.
5. Kirsten’s defence is clever. She’s warned by the judges to stop with the theatrics as there is no jury present. Kirsten then looks at the camera presented throughout the court. It’s clever because on first look, it appears as though Kirsten is going for the court of public opinion. It’s a twist that I love when it comes to court drama.
6. A shootout persists in the courts car lot. The AVTF shows up and shoots against Matt and the NYPD. Matt inadvertently takes a bullet to the hip as well. What a terrifying scene. It truly is showing how corrupt the entire thing is. We knew it anyway but it’s clear Matt turns the tide in court.
7. The Chancellor agrees to suspend Fisk. Shortly after she’s choked out and almost killed by a masked man. That’s until Bullseye intervenes, saving her life. He walks away like a complete boss as well.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report this week.
Favorite Moment
The right move from Daniel. He almost very nearly offers BB up to Buck. He opts against it at the very last second, in essence saving her life. In this moment, though, you genuinely fear for Daniel’s safety. Daniel does go face-to-face with Buck, and it goes exactly how you’d expect it to go. Buck begins to assault Daniel, raining down haymakers brutally. I feel so bad for Daniel here. I really thought that as Buck hesitated with the gun, he’d retract, but he didn’t. After a short while, he pings one into Daniel’s head. It’s a shame he’s been killed off here.
Standout Character
It’s the star of the show, Daredevil. He was fantastic this episode. Throughout the season, we’ve mainly seen Matt in the suit; we got a glimpse of the lawyer side again this episode. There’s something that brings me solace when Matt is in the church, injured, praying.
Verdict
An amazing episode yet again for Daredevil: Born Again. This episode shows that it’s beginning to wrap some of the storylines up as we head into the finale next week. Episode 7 offered a great deal, especially since some of the actors’ performances were fantastic. I can’t wait to see how they wrap up what’s been an entertaining second season.
