FX has ordered a brand new series. FX has ordered a series adaptation of Ubisoft’s Far Cry video game series from Noah Hawley and Rob Mac.
While co-creating the series, Rob Mac (formerly McElhenney) will also be starring in the series.
The series will stream in the U.S. on Hulu and will be on Disney+ internationally. While exact plot details are being kept under wraps, the series will be an anthology format like the games and will feature a different cast and setting each season.
Rob Mac said, “Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized. Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, entrusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX family continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”
We will continue to update you on the news as and when it progresses, as it’s still early in development, but I trust Rob Mac and Noah Hawley, as they have both created some amazing shows for FX in the past, from Alien: Earth to Welcome to Wrexham.
Far Cry has some very interesting stories. 3 and 4 are particularly memorable, whereas 5’s story is brilliant but let down by the game itself, and 6 was ok. If they can shift into pure storytelling, I think it could work. I’ll also be interested to see what the age rating will be, as surely, this should be at least 15+.
