Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch, has been done a few times in live-action now. From Chris Evans’ original superhero persona before Captain America to Joseph Quinn’s Johnny in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
But which Johnny Storm is designed well enough to take that number 1 spot?
4. Chris Evans’ “Fantastic Four” 2005
While Chris Evans was decent as Johnny Storm, his Human Torch form wasn’t the best for me personally. At times, it blurred and looked nothing like fire. The body, while on fire, felt no different from the glow of the fire, too.
3. Chris Evans “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” 2007
The visuals on the Human Torch were a little better within this movie. You could see more details on the character, and I think that was down to how the CGI improved within this time period. You could see the outlines of the suit, etc, and better facial features.

2. Michael B. Jordan “Fantastic Four” 2015
They nearly captured the perfect Johnny Storm with this design. This felt like the closest thing to the original comics. You had the darker body with the orange flames around it. The suit was fantastic (no pun intended). I feel as though if he didn’t have a suit to control the flames, it would be a hard fight for that #1.
1. Joseph Quinn “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” 2025
Honestly, the more I see of the trailers and clips of Johnny Storm within this movie. It’s hard not to be impressed. Everything is perfect with this. The way he can control the fire while flying and being able to hold people as well. Honestly, it feels ripped straight from the pages.
Honorable Mention obviously goes to Chris Evans again in Deadpool & Wolverine. This design was Chris’s best look at Human Torch; it’s just a shame we did not see more of it.
