Marvel’s Wolverine Is Coming… So Why Does It Still Feel Missing?

When Marvel’s Wolverine was revealed, it came with a cinematic first trailer and a slated Fall 2026 release window. While this initial reveal was exciting, the marketing silence has felt noticeably heavy. To date, fans have only seen the one official trailer, which was paired with the release announcement.

There has been no official second gameplay trailer, no deep-dive story tease, and despite a recent State of Play from Sony, no additional footage was shown either. In fact, Insomniac Games explicitly said that nothing would be shown and more information would come in Spring 2026.

From a marketing perspective, the gap is massively long. Fans generally expect a second trailer with gameplay or narrative elements, developer insights or breakdowns, character reveals or world lore, or showings at major events. As of now, Wolverine’s promotional run has only hit the first checkpoint, with many fans questioning if we should have had more by now, with the rumored release date of June to September.

There are a few reasons why there could have been no true information as of yet. From development priorities like the devs focusing on finishing the game before committing to heavy marketing, the trailers themselves take time, polish, and coordination between marketing and development teams.

Sony may be spacing out its big reveals to avoid crowding its own calendar, especially with other major titles coming up in 2026. By holding back until Spring, Sony could be planning a bigger, more coordinated campaign that ties Wolverine into other announcements, platforms, and retail initiatives.

While fans are saying that a second trailer would sustain the hype from the first trailer, waiting this long could deflate the interest in the game. I remember being deflated when we got the cinematic announcement back in 2021 and receiving nothing for literal years.

Should we have gotten a second trailer by now? Yes, from a marketing standpoint. This would sustain chatter and competitive visibility, but with Insomniac’s public message of pointing to more information in Spring, this would appear to be intentional, and not accidental.
