I think we’ve all been caught up on Peacemaker and seen the incredible episode that saw the duo of Vigilante 1 and Vigilante 2 team up on Earth-X and reunite with Peacemaker and the 11th Street Kids while trying to get back to their Earth.
Now, over the course of the weekend, a theory has popped up multiple times on my social media, and it’s about the Vigilante from our Earth and the one from Earth-X. Essentially, the theory goes, while the two Vigilantes are happy to be speaking with each other, they both have things that they like about this Earth and our normal Earth.
While I do like this theory, there are a few points that kind of back it up. Firstly, Earth-X Vigilante hates that world’s Peacemaker, so why would he close the portal door unless it’s our Earth Vigilante saving Peacemaker once again, as we saw throughout the first season, Vigilante would do anything for Peacemaker, from taking out a family to even trying to kill Peacemaker’s dad.
Secondly, Earth-X’s Vigilante got excited when ours told him about the Nazi’s on our Earth being defeated, and this goes with a grain of salt, of “What if” Vigilante offered to swap with each other to allow Earth-X’s version to see our world.
There have been rumors of a main character being killed off within this season as well, so why not do a fan favorite in Vigilante, as you could have the main Vigilante be killed but also replaced with Earth-X’s version? We’ve seen the twist with Auggie Smith.
While I really do like this theory, something I noticed in the episode was when Peacemaker was getting arrested. Vigilante went to pull his gun to stop it from happening. Earth-X wouldn’t do that unless he still believed that the police were dirty, like how they were on his Earth. Even if he was trying to play the part of the main Vigilante, can someone who has fought with Peacemaker and is a “sworn enemy” really try to pull a gun that easily?
