Season 3 Episode 3 – “Continuing the third season of Pennyworth”

Please note, our reviews are based on likes and dislikes. These contain major spoilers. If you haven’t already watched the episode we would recommend that you click off the article, and come back once you have watched the episode. Enjoy!

What I Liked

1. Daveboy is feeling “off” for killing Jessica. I think he feels guilt because he took her to that apartment, essentially feeling guilty for all those deaths that Jessica made when she was hypnotized by the trigger that was Sandra’s song.

2. I love that Alfie just straight-up told Gully what went wrong with Gully and his misses. Gully wanted to know what his wife saw in Alfie that she didn’t see in him so Alfie told him, he told him that he didn’t get drunk all the time and that he didn’t beat her. Home truths can hurt.

3. Daveboy gets drunk at the funeral of Jessica’s parents. He stands up and says he had to shoot her. You can actually see the guilt in his expression and in his voice. He attacks people who try to stop him and in the middle of the fight, the coffin gets knocked over.

What I Disliked

1. I do dislike how we didn’t get to see the rampage Gully went on when he was escaping. The jump to him in bookies with hostages and whiskey was a huge minus. I would have loved to see him use his powers and suit. Maybe it wasn’t in the budget.

2. I’m sorry but I just do not care for the story of Alfie’s mother beginning dating again. I get that it’s meant to be heartfelt and stuff but It’s just not interesting to me.

Favorite Moment

My favorite moment would be the person who is controlling Thomas’s father has begun to expand her business by drugging Thomas. Thomas gets a trigger causing him to attack Martha with a knife. He’s having a vision of Martha as a Nazi. He stabs Martha but Martha gets saved by Alfie’s mum.

Standout Character

Once again I think I’m going to have to give this to Alfie. He’s just truly well-mannered and excellent at what he does. It’s amazing.

Verdict

For me, this episode was a bit slower paced compared to the last two episodes, however, that did ramp up towards the end of the episode when Thomas was drugged. Overall this was still a good episode and I’m fully intrigued to see where the story goes from here.
