Cal Kestis has appeared in 2 games so far and he’s set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. There is a 5 year jump between the first and second games but still operating within the same timeframe.
In all honesty, Cal has done a lot. He’s a canon character but is still yet to be acknowledged in any form of live-action project. The closest we’ve had is a similar BD droid in The Book of Boba Fett but that’s it. There hasn’t been anything else.
Cal isn’t just fighting in the shadows. He’s actively fought Darth Vader, infiltrated the Inquisitorius base, and has been a constant thorn in the Empire’s side since being ousted on Bracca by the Second Sister. He’s done a lo,t and we’re receiving a third game which will be the be-all and end-all of the future for the character. After all, this is technically Respawn’s character.
There have been rumors swirling that Cal Kestis, mocapped and voiced by actor Cameron Monaghan, known for roles in Gotham and Shameless in live-action. This means there’s no reason besides how Respawn takes the story that Cameron couldn’t bring Cal Kestis to life in live-action.
This is where it leads me to the second seasonf or AHSOKA. It’s very possible that Ahsoka Tano could’ve known Cal Kestis from their days as apprentices. I’t’s even more plausible that they could’ve fought together. I’d struggle to believe due to Cal’s encounters with the Inquisitors that Ahsoka wouldn’t have known about Cal, and vice-versa.
Understandably, we don’t know if Cal makes it out alive from the third and final installment of the Jedi series. It’s unlikely Cal will make an appearance in the second season of AHSOKA due to the timescales and also Respawn wanting to keep mostly creative control on how his story ends within the games.
I do think though he’s worth at least mentioning. Even if it’s just a flying comment about the holocron or his adventures into the Inquisitor’s base. I think they need to add something because Cal Kestis is the most popular character to come out of Star Wars videogame in recent years. Revan is also another but he has been name-dropped and canonized in Episode IX, I see no reason why AHSOKA can’t do the same for Cal.
I’m a huge fan of Kestis. The two games, Fallen Order and Survivor are games I’ve done multiple playthroughs of. Lightsabers have always been my favorite aspects of Star Wars so getting to build and customize a lightsaber is special to me, not to mention all of the things you can do with it too. It’s why these games are so dear to me and why I’m desperate to see Cal eventually in a live-action setting.
With AHSOKA season 2 on the horizon, I can’t wait. Regardless if Cal isn’t dropped, it’s still a series I enjoyed during the first season so I’m naturally hyped for the second. It’s just a shame as right now we have no idea when the new season will drop. I’m guessing 2027 for the third Jedi game but could be early 2028.
