Why Quantic Dream Creating A Star Wars Game Would Be Interesting

As of the last 24 hours, rumors are floating around that Quantic Dream has signed a deal to create a Star Wars game.

If you’re unfamiliar with the studio itself, you’ll know they created some powerhouses and unique games such as Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human.

If you have played these games then you will know they are extremely unique in the way they play. They’re very similar to the Telltale games but with more control over your dialogue, and decisions you make in the game.

I never thought of a Star Wars game created in a similar manner, but the more I think about it, the more I want it.

The rumours came from a YouTuber by the name of Gautoz. He’s claimed by Quantic Dream pushing back on their alleged hostile work environments is to work on the Star Wars game.

DualShockers writer Tom Henderson also tweeted this out;

Quantic Dreams, despite their allegations, have pushed back in a huge way to protect their brand. This includes taking the relevant media outlets to court to sue for defamation, also releasing the following statement;

An investigation has concluded there was no “‘toxic atmosphere’ or any kind of discrimination in the studio” in order to “set the record straight”.

Thank you to eurogamer for the quote.

Either way, despite the allegations Quantic Dream make some of the most immersive games that you can possibly play. The games have multiple branches with different endings, and every decision you make is up to you.

In both Heavy Rain and Detroit, decisions could get a character killed off, even super early into the game and makes them unplayable for the rest of the game. It’s that in-depth, and I can only imagine what a Star Wars game would look like.

After all, it seems Disney is wanting to dip their hands in everywhere when it comes to video games for their IP.

Ubisoft is developing their open-world game, Knights of the Old Republic remake was just announced, it’s likely EA will still have the rights to work on Fallen Order 2 and Battlefront 3, plus rumors elsewhere.

This would almost mean we’d have a Star Wars game in every genre pretty much. It would also be great if there is this many games being developed at studios, as we’ve gone years with very few games for Star Wars, or the games we have had have been fairly poor with the exception of Fallen Order and Battlefront 2 (post-launch).

There’s a catalog of stories out there that they could choose from, or like EA with Fallen Order, they could create their own. Either way, if this does happen, I’d be happy with this.

As always, it is just a rumor so do take it with a pinch of salt.
