So Cylops has been done a couple of times now within live-action, from James Marsden in the original X-Men movies to Tye Sheridan in the later X-Men movies. While the two actors did share some similarities within Cyclops, I believe we did not get to see the true Cyclops.
When Cyclops eventually gets done within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Not James Marsden’s return in Doomsday), we need the version of Cyclops that is the balance between Professor X and Magneto, the first X-Men.
Within the original X-Men movies, Cyclops has a total of 20 minutes of screentime, and even within these scenes, he’s being taken down easily by characters such as Toad, and he’s being disrespected within these scenes.

Let’s talk about his powers. The beams that he produces from his eyes are not lasers; they’re more of an insanely powerful punch. He needs to stay in control at all times cause even if he glances in any direction, he has the ability to destroy structures or hurt people. His true ability is his ability to be a tactician.
Cyclops is the golden boy, a mutant all mutants should look up to. He is a tough character to write for, written poorly, and he could be a suck up, stiff, but written well, he could be an inspiration, and this is the version we need for Cyclops, none of this overshadowed by Logan.
Cyclops could literally be the Captain America for the mutants within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Captain America chooses the moral choice, which is right ethically, but Cyclops will always choose what’s best for mutantkind.
