Another year at San Diego Comic-Con, another year Marvel takes to Hall H to deliver some groundbreaking announcements.
2026 was a fairly quiet year in comparison to previous years, but the reveals that we saw were a big deal.
1. Ghost Rider
It was heavily rumored before San Diego Comic-Con. Ryan Gosling was officially cast as Ghost Rider. Shawn Levy will direct the movie, and it’s set for a theatrical release in 2028.

I am over the moon with this reveal. Ryan Gosling will make a perfect Ghost Rider, and he seems like he genuinely wanted the role. I am glad we’re heading straight into a theatrical release window, and it flows smoothly from here on out.
2. Black Panther 3
I think this reveal was perhaps the most surprising. Black Panther 3 was announced with Ryan Coogler returning to direct. What’s even more surprising is they announced that we will be getting a new Black Panther.
David Jonsson will be playing T’Challa’s son in what is seemingly going to be a drastic time jump. David looks great for the role, and I am glad to see the franchise moving forward.
I know David has some huge boots to fill in Chadwick Boseman, but I think more than anything, Chadwick would want the character to live on, and that’s exactly what Ryan Coogler is looking to do. I think this is a solid move, and I’m looking forward to the third installment.
We even had a full release date for the movie. December 15th, 2028. I would expect this to change. You can see the full reveal below:
Avengers: Doomsday
In regard to Avengers: Doomsday, the cast took the stage to speak about the movie and tease a few things. Robert Downey Jr said on stage for the movie, “Decisions will have to be made; you’ll have to be on the side of the good guys, or you’ll have to consider the alternative… joining a family of doom.”
Reed and Doom’s rivalry in Doomsday is confirmed, which has debunked rumors of Doom asking the Fantastic Four for help, as Reed and Doom have history. There is some dialogue teased by new footage as we get to see Reed say, “Victory, did you do this?” and Doom’s response is, “All of you have lived stolen lives, and now you must give them back”.
We did get a confirmation of the return of Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter within Avengers: Doomsday. There was a surprise within the crowd as Ryan Reynolds appeared in full Deadpool grey suit, begging for a part within the movie. You can see a tease below.
