EA has decided to cancel its upcoming Black Panther video game and has also decided to close down Cliffhanger Games.
EA Entertainment president Laura Miele has said that these changes, alongside other recent cancellations such as Wonder Woman and layoffs, are being done to “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities.

While nothing has been announced or revealed of EA’s Black Panther game since its announcement in 2023, word of the cancellation, alongside more layoffs, arrived earlier this week.
While the decision was made to pull the plug on Black Panther, the publisher has insisted that the move does not reflect a change to its partnership with Marvel and has confirmed it still has “at least three” additional Marvel games in development.
In April, the company laid off more than 300 employees, with Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi studio, Respawn Entertainment, losing around 100 staff.
A second Black Panther project unconnected with EA – Skydance Games’ “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra”, from Uncharted writer Amy Hennig, was recently delayed until 2026, although initially it was set for a holiday 2025 release.
