What I Liked
1. We see two Wakandan soldiers infiltrating Ethiopia, the City of Adwa in 1896. In the middle of a war within the city, the two soldiers try to sneak to the storage building, and it just so happens to be in the middle of the worst part of the war.
2. On the way back to Wakanda, the two soldiers get attacked by a futuristic-looking Black Panther, who is obviously looking for the axe that the two war dogs have managed to secure. The two then realize that their foe is actually a Wakandan.
3. The alien creatures that have devastated Earth were designed really well. They were powerful creatures that not only destroyed Earth, but they have seemingly managed to kill all heroes on Earth, with only the queen of Wakanda standing as a hero.
4. Tafari, being the prince he is, wants to forge his own path. He takes the blame for failing to bring an artifact back home to Wakanda, as he pulls the “I am a prince” card and saves Kuda from being disciplined by the Queen of Wakanda.
What I Disliked
Nothing to report.
Favorite Moment
My favorite moment would be when the series finally ties in with the events of the first Black Panther film. Seeing how an axe within that movie that Killmonger was looking at ties in with this apocalyptic timeline where Earth is destroyed and only a handful of Dora Milaje were left.
Standout Character
I’m going to give this to Tafari. As a prince of Wakanda, he reminded me of T’Challa in some aspects of his mannerisms.
Verdict
The story was good, while I would have loved to spend more time in the apocalyptic world, the back and forth between 1896 and the future was great. The female Black Panther and last remaining queen of Wakanda was a nice addition to the line of Black Panthers we’ve seen.
