If you missed the announcement or reveal that Netflix is once again venturing into the video game adaptations their sights are on the universe of Gears of War. They are wanting to create a movie as well as an adult animated series.
In this article, I’ll give my fan casts of actors who I think should be cast in the roles for the movie, the animated series could use their voices as well if it is the same characters of course.
Damon Baird
Damon Baird was a member of Kilo Squad as well as a member of Delta Squad. He fought alongside Hendrick and Paduk as well as Marcus Fenix, August Cole, and Dominic Santiago. After the Locust War, Baird founded DB Industries, but become a soldier once more during the Swarm War.
Fan Cast: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Reason: I’ve recently been watching Game of Thrones (first time viewing), and he plays Jaime Lannister and he has been absolutely killing this role. He’s so insanely great for that role.
Dominic Santiago
Honestly, as a lifelong friend of Marcus Fenix, someone who has consistently been by Marcus’s side you will need someone who can bring that loyalty to the role. You will need someone who can match the enthusiasm of my fan cast for Marcus (We all know who).
Fan Cast: Oscar Isaac
Reason: Everything that Oscar touches turns to gold. He can bring that energy and mentality to this role. His love to deliver the best story possible is something that makes him considered for everything. He’s a fantastic actor.
Minh Young Kim
Minh Young Kim was the commander of Delta Squad before his untimely death at the hands of General RAAM which saw Marcus Fenix promoted to that position of leadership. For this role, there are many options you can choose from but I think mine is more obscure.
Fan Cast: Brian Tee
Reason: I’m simply a massive fan of Brian. From the moment I saw him in Tokyo Drift, I was a fan. I followed his career right up until Chicago Med.
August Cole
I think this actor will be mentioned in a few people’s lists to see join the Gears of War movie. This actor and person are down-to-earth, hilarious, and just an awesome actor. This actor also has voiced and had his likeness in a video game before.
Fan Cast: Terry Crews
Reason: I simply see no one else being able to pull off this casting. Terry Crews is literally made for this role. Similar to my pick for Marcus Fenix. It is also rumored that Terry himself has said he wants in. Bring him in.
Queen Myrrah
Queen Myrrah created the Locust Horde and serves as the third installment’s main villain. She could make multiple cameo appearances in the first film before being fully fleshed out later on in potential sequels.
Fan Cast: Cate Blanchett
Reason: Cate Blanchett is a fantastic villain. She can portray a villain truly well and is even scary. Don’t believe me? Watch Thor: Ragnarok. She was awesome.
Marcus Fenix
I think we all know who should be cast as Marcus. Fenix was there on Emergence Day when the apocalyptic war first started and fought with Lancer in hand for a decade. He gets incarcerated for what is supposed to be 40 years, all for going to rescue his father.
Fan Cast: Dave Bautista
Reason: His passion, his love, and his determination to be cast as Marcus. He wants it, and I think this is the first time a fandom has come together to collectively agree on a casting.
Can Netflix truly manage to pull off a Gear of War movie and have it succeed? We’ve seen many video game adaptations come to life and fail.
