Iron Man 2 Villain Whiplash – A Great Villain Or Failure?

Over the last few years, we’ve had countless great villains pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Thanos to Baron Zemo to Soon to be Taskmaster.

When you ask someone to name a great Marvel Cinematic Universe they instantly without hesitation name Thanos, Loki, Ultron, the Black Order, and many more.

But one name seems to be forgotten about.

Whiplash

Mickey Rourke played this character insanely well. This is probably my favorite performance from Rourke, ever.

He matched the energy Robert Downey Jr gave off as Tony Stark in the movie, he absolutely nailed the Russian feel with the character. He portrayed the “technological genius” brilliantly. As well as the genius part, his determination to ruin and humiliate Tony stark was absolutely perfect.

The way this man walked out into a Grand Prix race, destroying millions of dollars worth of racing cars, blowing them up, and then ruining Tony Starks car, cutting it in half. Not to mention, Happy hit him with the car like three times and he took it, managing to cut the car into pieces.

He then worked with Justin Hammer to destroy Tony Stark even more, but in the end, he played both of the “geniuses” and outsmarted both of them showcasing just how smart he actually is.

For me, Whiplash is very underrated, he may even be the number one underrated villain of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
