Frustration.
That’s all it tends to be with comic book games at the moment. It’s not even impatience at this point. It’s frustration out of silence.
There are far too many games announced with cinematic trailers in the geek world at the moment. Star Wars has several, but here’s a game that was announced via an article, and we’ve had nothing since.
The EA article with Motiv was released on September 20th, 2022. Nearly 3 and a half years ago. Now, I fully understand that modern AAA games can take five or even six years to build, especially when they start in pre-production.
The game is currently in the pre-production phase and we’ll have more updates as we get further along in development. This is an exciting new collaboration between Marvel and Electronic Arts, with Iron Man being the first of several new games.

Based on that quote, where are the updates? I’m under no illusion that games (especially AAA games) take a long time to be produced. So, where’s the cinematic tease? Where’s the news to say the game is still happening? It’s just radio silence.
I’m not expecting a gameplay trailer or anything ridiculous. I understand this game will require a full new style, a possible new engine, actors, storyboards, mechanics, and everything else. It’s a game being built from scratch. But a short development update, a confirmation of progress, or even a simple reassurance that things are moving forward would go a long way.
It’s even got to a point where people are suspecting the game may have been cancelled. That’s at the point where you need to come out and explain that this hasn’t happened. We’re seeing the same rumours form as part of the Knights of the Old Republic Remake.
According to Miele, EA’s current slate tied to Disney and Marvel IP includes the upcoming “Star Wars Jedi 3” game from developer Respawn, large-scale mobile title “Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes,” MMO “Star Wars: The Old Republic,” as well as an “Iron Man” video game and “a few others that haven’t been announced yet.”

The above quote is from a Variety article posted in July 2025. That’s the only news we’ve had in 3 and a half years, and even that was simply a slate mention, not a genuine development update.
Am I being pedantic? Probably.
In all honesty, we’re living in an era where games are announced, and nothing happens for years. It’s just complete radio silence for the most part. The Elder Scrolls VI was teased in 2018. Knights of the Old Republic. The Quantic Dream Star Wars game. Rise of Hydra: 1943. Of course, there is more than that. And that’s exactly why fans are starting to worry about Iron Man; we’ve seen this pattern before.
