The last event Disney held was last year on September 8th. So much was announced at that point which was great as a geek.
It’s now been over a year and it’s been honestly a rough year for the movie and TV industry due to the strikes. The writer’s strike has ended due to an agreement being made but the actor’s strike is still ongoing.
This does mean that until that is over, it’s unlikely we’re going to hear much news come out in the way of franchises such as Marvel, DC, Star Wars, etc.
Although we’re hoping an agreement will be made, it’s obvious that companies like Disney haven’t put everything on hold and things are still hopefully progressing as normal in the background with CGI work, new movies/shows, and more.
If and hopefully when an agreement is reached, it’ll be a perfect opportunity for a D23/Disney+ Day to happen. There’s been very little movement on some of the projects announced last year so it would be fantastic to see where we’re at and for new announcements as well.
Marvel has a lot of exciting stuff planned such as the Fantastic Four and X-Men, Star Wars has several movies and I want to see the movement on the 4th season of The Mandalorian or Rey’s upcoming sequel. There’s a lot I’m excited for but obviously, ideally, I want the actors to get the fair deal they’re searching for within the strikes first.
Plus, as a content writer, these events are great. I miss the feeling of seeing what the next trailer is and writing about it.
