Is Warner Bros. Making a Mistake by Not Doing a DC FanDome This Year

It is no secret that in recent years, DC Comics and Warner Bros., in general, have been, well they have simply been beyond bad in every aspect. However, one thing they have done great and arguably has been a success, DC FanDome.

Since the world has been in lockdowns, pandemics, and just generally been a miserable time, many comic cons and events have turned to showcase stuff online in virtual comic cons.

But as of recently, it’s been said that DC and Warner Bros. are not doing a DC FanDome this year. Is this a mistake?

According to a DC rep “With the return of in-person events, Warner Bros. Discovery is excited to be able to engage with our fans live at numerous comic-cons around the world and will not be scheduling DC FanDome for 2022.”

While it’s nice for DC and Warner Bros to engage personally with fans at an event, with recent bad publicity for the company by keeping Ezra Miller cast, removing films like Batgirl, and coming out and saying releasing the Snyder Cut was a bad move because it “divided” fans.

I can only imagine a lot of people will not be hyped for anything revolving around DC at any con in the near future. While DC does have some passionate fans, not all of these can get to a con so having DC FanDome be a regular event every year is a huge plus for DC because it can engage with a lot more.

Yes, releasing trailers at cons is great and eventually, online moments later does create hype, but people have to wait until someone behind the scenes clicks “publish” on a video whereas if you were watching DC FanDome online, you instantly have viewers and then get more clicks and views after the event when people repost, rewatch, and share the trailers around the internet.

I honestly just feel like this is a huge downgrade for DC and Warner Bros. Especially when they are going up against Disney Expo events and Investor days for Disney.

It was honestly something DC absolutely nailed. I loved waiting up for DC FanDome, writing articles immediately when trailers, news, and announcements were released.

I think Warner Bros. should reconsider DC FanDome. Still do any cons and events but keep your own event going. It gives you a chance to release more news and trailers and get the hype train rolling again.
