“Wonder Girl” TV Series in the Works at The CW

DC Comics recently announced their “Future State” project in their comic universe. DC Future State spotlights the World’s Greatest Super Heroes in fresh new roles, with all-new characters taking up their iconic mantles.

This has been received both positive and negative by fans and casual comic readers. I have some issues yet I have some praise for the Future State event. As while I don’t truly think some of it is needed, I do really like the designs of the suits and looking forward to getting to know these characters.

One of these characters is Yara Flor, a Latina Dreamer who was born of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, learns that she is Wonder Girl.

Greg Berlanti and The CW are currently developing a drama series centered around the character of “Wonder Girl”. This would mark the first Latina superhero title character of a DC TV series. Rodriguez, who is the daughter of Cuban immigrants, is executive producing with Berlanti Prods.’ Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden.

While I’m all for this character coming to live-action. My only worry is that it might not be received well and will be thought of as a “forced” race on the DC CW shows.

I do have another worry of it being too soon to bring these characters to live-action, I mean she hasn’t even debuted in the comics yet and she might not be received well by comic readers.

I truly hope it pays off as for me personally, this is a risk. I hope it turns out well and she fits in with the timeline of the DC CW shows.
